Research at the International Business Centre
Our first research programme was launched shortly after the establishment of the International Business Centre (IBC) at Aalborg University (AAU), focusing on the internationalization of companies in Northern Jutland, the region where the university is located.
From the beginning, the research agenda has been gradually extended academically, geographically and in terms of company collaborations. Today, our research activities touch upon nearly every continent. Globally, we conduct research on companies from a wide range of developed, developing and transition economies.
The International Business Centre's research focus covers the following areas:
- Internationalization of Companies and Global Strategies
- Culture, Inter-Cultural Management & Leadership
- International Marketing, E-business, Global Branding and Consumers
- Global Innovation, Knowledge Management and Organisation
- Global Industrial Dynamics and Value Chains in Institutional Context
Our research portfolio became complete over ten years ago by the launch of our PhD programmes which are now an essential part of the Centre’s research agenda. Methodology has always played an important part of the research curriculum. The research group at IBC is oriented towards qualitative studies although we welcome and are open to quantitative studies as well.
Our commitment to research can be seen through the number and quality of research activities and publications. Our centre has always aimed at being active in international publishing, both in terms of books, chapter in books, journal articles, working papers and study materials.
